Accepting Change
The nature of all change is expansion but we are not taught how to access the power, knowledge and wisdom of change. Yoga is the systematic practice of accessing this power. When concentration is solidly anchored in the body the wandering of mind stops and we experience less stress and more joy in life.
The Canadian Meditation Institute in Calgary is a non-profit organization directed by Patricia Kelcher. An Occupational Therapist by profession, she has worked both in physical and mental health, with individual and group psychotherapy a strong focus of her practice. Patricia especially values yoga and meditation as a means to self understanding, connection and acceptance.
Patricia is an initiate in the Himalayan Tradition of Swami Rama, and received training in this tradition both locally and in the U.S. In recent years, she has been studying Kriya yoga meditation under the guidance of Swami Satyam.
The Canadian Meditation Institute was founded by Ginger Cunes and her husband Bill Cunes, a Registered Social Worker.
Ginger is a survivor of recurrent cancer and has worked with chronicallyill and health-challenged Calgarians for 22 years. She founded the Hope group for cancer survivors before many alternative approaches to healing were available. She was the 1991 recipient of the YWCA's Woman of Distinction Award in the area of Health and Wellbeing. Ginger’s devotion to Kriya Yoga Meditation has led her to the Yog Fellowship Temple in Kitchener, Ontario. Ginger returns to Calgary regularly to lead meditation classes and workshops.
